What is baby dedication?
Child dedication is the special moment of celebration and consecration when committed parents bring their children before the Lord while pastoral prayers and prophetic blessings are declared over their children’s lives.
Just as Jesus, Himself, embraced children while declaring that of such is the kingdom of God, here at Eagle Rock Church, we embrace the next generation. Jesus lifted up the children, showing His desire to embrace them and to be with them. Childlike faith that is simple, unquestioning and completely dependent upon God is a quality that every born again child of God should have.
Why do we dedicate our children?
The dedication of your child demonstrates to God, to the Church and to everyone that you are passionate about raising your child in a way that pleases the Lord. Child dedication is not a form of institutional infant baptism. It is a statement of your faith and commitment to giving your child to the Lord and raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
What the scriptures say about baby dedication?
The Scripture says in Psalm 127:3, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” At Eagle Rock Church we place great value in your children. They are a blessing from the Lord, and the hope of the next generation. We believe in the power of blessing the children, just as Jesus did. As a parent, one of the best ways to set your child on course for their destiny is to dedicate them to the Lord.
Does child dedication guarantee their salvation?
Although child dedication is a significant step that demonstrates an act of faith and commitment of a family that seeks to raise children in a Godly way, it is not a guarantee of your child’s personal salvation. We believe that the Scriptures are clear regarding every individual’s responsibility in reaching an age of accountability for their own sin, and discovery of their personal need for salvation. A child’s decision to receive the finished work of Jesus Christ must be their own.
